Solid Oak Dining Table
with Hot Tray
Certainly the largest table I’ve ever made and one of the most challenging due to incorporating a 2.4M zinc hot tray within the top (hidden beneath the central plank at all other times.) When completed it was almost impossible to lift!
The 80mm thick curved stretcher beneath is secretly dovetailed into the frames at each end and presented quite a challenge also, due to short grain and awkward angles but, provides a strong joint unlikely to move or fail. Finish is ten coats of ‘Danish Oil’ cut back after each coat had dried to help give resistance to heat etc.
